Founder of APT, Renee Ho, is a mother of a transgender child, who intimately knows the struggles of transgender youth and is also a teacher who first hand knows the importance of early intervention education in schools and communities.
Even with the most open minded and non-judgmental school staff and community members, there is a lack of education to be able to teach and support LGBTQIA+ folks. That can and does contribute to the alarming suicide, mental health crisis and quality of life statistics.
The grave statistics on suicide, mental health crisis & quality of life for LGBTQIA+ folks are alarming. The Trevor Project’s 2021 annual national survey revealed that:
Renee learned from a 2018 study by the American Academy of Pediatrics, that there was a 1 in 2 chance that her transgender kiddo would attempt suicide in their lifetime. With this information and personal experiences from her kiddo's hardships living in a binary society, Renee was moved to create, Amor Para Todos (Love For All). The APT mission and vision are:

The grave statistics on suicide, mental health crisis & quality of life for LGBTQIA+ folks are alarming. The Trevor Project’s 2021 annual national survey revealed that:
- 42% of respondents, had “seriously considered” attempting suicide in the last year. 12% of respondents were white, whereas 21% were Black and multiracial, nearly twice the rate. This included more than half of the transgender and nonbinary respondents.
- 68% of LGBTQ youth reported symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder, including more than 3 in 4 transgender and nonbinary youth.
- 61% of transgender and nonbinary youth reported being prevented or discouraged from using a bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity.
- Many LGBTQ seniors go back into the closet because of a lack of family or social support in health care, assisted living and hospice facilities.

Mission: to join with schools and communities in an innovative, intersectional approach to cultivate more gender and LGBTQIA+ affirming environments for our youth. We believe our work will be the early intervention that can serve as a catalyst to change systematic invisibility for LGBTQIA+ youth.
Vision: that all people, regardless of gender and sexual orientation, feel safe and comfortable to be their true authentic selves and to express themselves freely, and are supported and treated with respect.
When people can be their true authentic selves in a safe and respectful environment we will see reduced mental health disparities, improved wellness and strengthened social connections. We are working to support that.

APT is working with school districts and communities in Petaluma, Cotati, Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa. We are excited to continue expanding in other school districts and communities. Our origins and focus started in the elementary student school age realm. As this still is our focus, we are also expanding to support all LGBTQIA+ age students & folks.
We are excited to continue collaborating in leading this important movement to model, educate and advocate for LGBTQIA+ folks.. See our Projects page for more information on our current projects.
